This diagrism is showing the amount of salinty in the bodies of water.
Most of the salt in the oceans come from land because chloride on rocks has been washed over million of years. Chloride is also known as table salt. Diffrent bodies of water has diffrent levels of salinity. Salinity is showed by the amount of salt in every 1,000 grams of water. The average amount of salinity in the oceans is 35 ppt (Part per thousand). It varies by location and temperature because if you go somewhere and they are in the middle of a drought and it is really, really hot, there would be evaporation in the ocean. The water levels will go down but the salt is not evaporating with the water. With the drought, there would be no rain so it is not adding onto the ocean water. Therefore, the water would be very salty. If you go somewhere and it is cold and not in a drought then there wouldnt be any evaporation so the water level wouldnt go down. If they are not in a drought then there would be rain and the water level would increase. Therefore the ocean would not be very salty.
